Best Hotel Management Companies Poised to Take Advantage of Oregon’s Growing Economy

The citizens in the state of Oregon have been through some tough times in recent years. Recession pushed unemployment rates up close to 12%. Homeowners saw the value of their houses drop and there was a decline in the number of tourists and travelers which negatively impacted the hotel and hospitality industry.

Fortunately, over the last two years things have been getting better. Occupancy rates are up to around 60% state-wide and some cities like Portland have hotel occupancy rates closer to 70%. While revenue per room rates has not appreciated significantly, they remain reasonably high. Competition is strong for every guest and hotel management companies are adjusting their daily room rates to reflect the current lodging market.

Summer is traditionally a time when Oregon receives a large influx of visitors. To cope with the bigger crowds, it takes an experienced and competent hotel manager to keep their properties running like they should be run. Staffing is one issue that must be addressed. With more guests, there are more rooms to be cleaned. Housekeeping must not be stretched so thin that unoccupied rooms are not cleaned and therefore not available for new guests who want to check in.

While more people are coming to Portland, Eugene and Salem, they are not going to simply show up at a hotel’s front lobby. It is still vitally important to have a comprehensive marketing strategy. Property management companies that are doing their job are well aware of the best strategies to get their message to potential guests. They use a variety of marketing techniques such as television commercials in targeted cities, direct mail to previous guests at their property and social networking sites.

Social media is an affordable and effective way to keep your name and brand at the top of the competition. Some owners and managers are woefully lacking in understanding how to use social media to maximize response rates. They may have a website and even post something on a Facebook page, but, the message just gets lost in the crowd.

The answer for many managers is to hire an expert who knows all the tricks and techniques that are required to run an effective internet and social media marketing campaign. They know how to arouse the interest of their target audience. Instead of having your hotel come up on page four of a Google search where it will probably never be seen, they can get your name near the top of the very first page.

Whether you just do not have the time or you do not have the expertise, it makes sense to hire a management company that can present your property or brand in the best possible light. With summer travel now in full swing, it is important to convince people to spend their travel dollars with you and not someplace else. A hospitality management firm’s job is to help you maximize profits. They do it by making sure a property is clean and attractive for guests and they do it by marketing the brand through social media and other communication channels.
